I'm originally from a small town in the middle of nowhere Ohio, and now I live in the big city. I've been building worlds and characters for more than twenty years, ever since I discovered Dungeons & Dragons as a child.
I write what I like, as the ideas come. These days, that means writing urban fantasy as Max Ironston and romance as Alex Anderson. Two very different genres, perhaps, but both give me an excuse to do what I've been doing since I was a kid: build worlds, create characters, and see what happens to them.
As a white person from a middle-class upbringing, I realize I don't have all the same experiences as the characters I create. I try to be respectful to all of them, and to portray people from different backgrounds in a positive and realistic way.
I've never been to New York City, but I'd like to go one day. When I'm not writing, I love roleplaying games, watching cooking channels on YouTube, occasionally trying to cook, and tackling my ever-growing "to be read" and "to be watched" lists. My wife and I are also doing our best to keep far too many cats from destroying our house.
